ABOUT THE SPEAKER

W. A. (Sam) Hlavaty

It has been said that to be a good Professional Fiduciary one needs to have had life experiences. Mr. Hlavaty has been paid to be a cowboy, a sled dog musher, a chef, a writer, an extra in television and movie productions, sporting events producer, teacher and of course a Professional Fiduciary. He likes to believe that all of these have helped make him a better Professional Fiduciary … and not that he could never keep a job. He assumed his first conservatorship case for his own grandparents in 1988. He is a co-founder and was an instructor for the Fiduciary Management Certificate Program at the University of California/Riverside and the first Professional Fiduciary to serve as President of an Estate Planning Council. He has held a variety of positions with the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. He feels passionate about the education and the advancement of a profession that is vitally necessary in today’s society, that of Professional Fiduciaries. In his rare off work times he can be found on the water with the sails hoisted and only the sound of the wind and the waves.
