ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Kate Sweeny is a Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside. She received her B.S. (2002) from Furman University and her M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) from the University of Florida.
She recently wrote a timely essay titled, "Can anything cure the pandemic of waiting and worrying? A psychologist of uncertainty has some ideas to help us cope with this unprecedented time" and contributed to an article titled, "Experts address anxiety about returning to work during pandemic."
When she's not at work, you can find Kate hanging out with her husband and their pets Mojo and Cookie, doing Middle Eastern and Polynesian dance, wine tasting, practicing yoga, learning Spanish, writing postcards to voters, and enjoying nature by hiking or camping.
